1) 19/2000? 3’s and 7’s? 25 or 6 to 4?

2) I played the first two- that is Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari. Fantastic game. And I own both soundtracks! Everlasting Love is my favorite! But that’s probably because Lonely Rolling Star was my favorite from the first game. But really EVERY SONG is FANTASTIC (Cherry Tree Time’s possibly excluded)! Of course, I can only speak for the first two games because that’s all I’ve played and all I’ve heard. And of the two, the original’s soundtrack tends to be the strongest overall.

As for The Prince regarding our previous subject, I’ve been saying he should be playable in the next Smash Bros. since Katamari Damacy first came out (between Melee and Brawl). His size and quirky nature would make him a unique addition! Plus, the cousins would function perfectly as alternate color schemes! Kinoko’s my favorite.

3) Nope. Holiday’s excluded, you gotta pick one per visit.

4) Forever disappointed Grave Digger wasn’t mentioned. They’ve been around for over thirty years, released sixteen studio albums, and they’re still going! Their latest album (which I haven’t heard yet) came out just last month!

Still, a fantastic walk through the various genres- and of course I was interested! I love metal!

Favorite song check! Have I really never listed Excalibur? This song in particular, aside from being from my favorite band, holds the distinction of having my favorite solo!

Oh my gosh! My roommate was watching this on DVR and I heard them from the other room!

I love this song and it’s an incredible arrangement!

Skip to 2:35 to hear it!

1) Bon-Bon: There’s nothing wrong with that. We’re all different.

Bon-Bon: Oh, that was a little before my time. I’m sure Cheerilee would know better. I have seen pictures, though. I can definitely tell you it happened.

2) I think autotuning has a place in, like, techno or similar styles of music. Outside of that you can tell what a minimally edited voice sounds like and autotuning comes off as so… unnatural. Detached.

1) Do eggs taste like cheese? I didn’t think so. Eggs need cheese too!

I forget what started this.

2) That’s interesting, but for a minute I thought you drew me a picture!

Also, Bon-Bon says if you’re hugging her fairly often, you must be doing so while she’s asleep and you and her need to have some words.

Come on, dude. Most of the time when you come over she’s at work!

3) Yeah! Where I came from we always called it hair metal. Gilda turned me on to proper hard rock. Great stuff too!

I prefer grudge that’s more harmonious than raw myself, which some would say defeats the purpose.

There are plenty of good hip-hop tracks out there, but they are admittedly awash in a sea of tripe. However, that’s really no different than the mountains of derivative, boring glam metal, or of any genre popular enough to produce so much material.

I would say the key difference is in scale, caused by the sheer number of ponies willing to produce soulless, heavily studioed material (caring more about commercial success than the medium) and the masses willing to just take what they’re given.

If there is a traceable decline in a good-to-bad music ratio (for there will always be good music), it’s certainly not the fault of any genre. It would have began when labels realized that you can literally just put different words to the same combinations of core beats and rhythms and sell them over and over again.

And for my bits, I would say that’s why the average consumer is so docile about the whole thing; a bloated industry. It’s hard to find what’s good. And let’s be honest, it can be difficult to tell at first to which tracks have the layers and subtleties that signify a refined piece when there’s just so much to sift through.

1) Oh, absolutely! Tots required listening.

2) Even twenty years ago? Well, I’m sure you’re not the only one that feels that way. One working theory is the rise and fall of renaissance-style movements. Current “modern music” as a classification beginning only after the end of he last musical renaissance, which itself would have taken place sometime around your 1950s-1980s. It’s all based on nothing more than opinion for now, though.

And of course, if somepony from your world’s distant past heard some 80’s metal they’d probably be all, “Da [omitted]-ith be this depravity inflected upon mine ears?” And then Lyra would have to smack them for speaking ill of Ratt’s Round and Round; one of my favorite songs.

3) Bon-Bon: Why thank you very much! I’m not used to anypony paying so much attention to me! Sweetie Drops is open from 9 to 9 so I would say twelve hours, but I don’t really work during that whole time. It’s just if anypony happens to drop in I’m there.

Bon-Bon: Well, as one can imagine Lyra has exposed me to all sorts of music. But I tend to like the lighter, more upbeat ones. There’s this one really good one that I listen to sometimes.

4) That’s pretty cool. Kinda like a resort?

But I didn’t know they built preplanned school house-style facilities. Figured that was just a rural thing. Converted churches and what-not.

1) For the most part I don’t listen to single bands or musicians. I listen to songs. That said, my favorite band is still Grave Digger.

Human music in general is real big here in Equestria. It’s so much more diverse. Regarding your feelings for modern music, I think it’s important to keep in mind that most songs, albums, and bands from times past, even successful ones, are lost to obscurity. What you almost always hear are the best of the best. It’s not fair to compare that to modern music as time has yet to pick out the best it has to offer. You’re subjected to everything marketable, which as you’ve noticed does not mean quality.

But for now, favorite song post! I found this one a while ago. Came with a computer. I Ka Barra. Excellent piece. You can find a translation of the lyrics to English here!

2) I’ve… never heard of a school being converted into another building. There’s always more ponies coming into the world. Shouldn’t more schools be built?

Lyra: I really like jazz bass guitar, but for my every movement and speech, I think I’d go with the violin. Very wide range. Very powerful.

Bon-Bon: And what was it called again?

Lyra: Djembe drum but like I was saying that video I showed you isn’t how it’s traditionally played.

Bon-Bon: I still think it sounded cool and versatile.

Lyra: If we’re going by Peter and the Wolf itself (which is what I thought the question was originally asking), I think I’d pick the flute.

Bon-Bon: I’d like the main string section!

Lyra: And the video included is Disney’s Peter and the Wolf. I’d rather a version without the narrator past the introduction but this is the best I could find. Enjoy!

1) Well, at first I just liked Krastos for his attitude. I grew to like other things about him as I spent more time with him. We’re not the perfect couple, but I can’t imagine being with anypony else.

2) Thank you, Mister Know-It-All.

Although, I don’t remember seeing those anytime that we visited. You hiding them from me?

3) I’d ask if a king counted, but I don’t think that dude’s coming back.

I suppose it’s possible Nightmare Moon could, though I’d assume in some other form.

4) Oh really? I beg to differ. Of course, this is fantastic too. And I believe I’ve mentioned before how much I love ska.

5) Well, for one thing, I’ve known without a doubt that Bon-Bon is a mare for quite some time. Things you don’t want to walk into your best friend doing.

So, it would have to be in the past. I wouldn’t care, though. She’s my best friend!

6) I have no idea what you’re talking about, as that would assume I was tricked, knocked out, and held captive. Krastos is crazy and none of that ever happened.

… Da [omitted] are you smilin’ at?

B: I didn’t say a word.

[omitted]. And for the record, I don’t believe that [omitted] about a Kraken attack on the west coast keeping you from savin’ me.

B: Your [omitted]’s still recording.

1) Yes. Yes I have.

2) Oh! I got one! What if you asked an interesting “what if” question wherein the answer might have some significance?

3) You were misinformed. The only time something even remotely like that would happen is while nursing.

4) You know, I never played the original.

5) Temptation. “Hey! These 7 games, all together worth 15 bits, are selling for just 1!” Guess what? You didn’t save anything. You just spent 1 bit.

6) Not even gonna try deciphering this one.

7) Sure, sure. Plenty legal. But being successful at it has a variety of factors at work. No pony wants to hear an amateur lyre. Steel Pedal Guitar would catch folks attention. Guitar if you can sing like an angel or employ sick technique. Violin if you’ve got purpose or presence. Basically, the more contemporary the instrument, the better you gotta be.

If I could get good at sitar I’d have a shot at it, but most street performers work in Canterlot. I’d all but have to move back there.

One last one.

8) She lives here while her parents are traveling. Lyra. You tell me. What about them? I cannot. Usually duration.

1) I’m sure you’d be shocked to hear that I don’t approve. Even if their songs or albums are less than appropriate, band names at least need to be acceptable to bring up in polite conversation.

2) I don’t have a surname. Evidently other Lyras do.

3) Many times.

4) I’m a little finicky with my mane. You can brush the back if you really want to.

5) Recently? Nothing I guess. But when we have clean, renewable power, why would we ever want to leave the planet?

6) I… don’t really have any desire to cook. I guess it couldn’t hurt to try learning again.

7) The original. I don’t particularly favor either, but the other one just sounds like a dance mix; they’re pretty common and carry so many similarities between one another that the flavor of the original piece is often lost.

Also, I’m not linking the remix. The accompanying video is sort of violent.

1) I’m not sure why you keep reminding me. It’s kind of hard to forget. I’m one of them.

2) I’m going to assault you with hugs until you develop shell-shock.

3) Don’t really have a favorite. This tag can help you find some posts I’ve talked about games in, though. You can probably get a general feel from that!

I’m not going to say One-Winged Angel is overrated. I am going to say that it doesn’t do anything unique. It’s just classical opera. It’d probably been done at least a million times before by that point.

The track may have been an eye-opener for a select group that wouldn’t ordinarily be exposed to music like that, and that creates a certain nostalgic bond, but the piece itself didn’t do anything to music at large.

That said, there have been more than a few artists to have taken a guitar to One-Winged Angel. I’m willing to wager that none of them could do what this man did (and then some).

This human is easily my favorite pop culture musician. And he can visually preform too!

4) Being turned into a pegasus doesn’t mean I suddenly have to fly. I probably wouldn’t be able to fly even if I wanted to because I’d lack the muscle strength, muscle memory, and physical endurance.

5) I’d probably say something like, “Hello!”

That’s it.

6) Okay. You got me. Very loud. Thanks for that.

7) If it’s big enough that I can get a good bead on it, probably levitate it to outside.

image

1) Thank you!

And that’s a very interesting post you have on your page.

2) That’s not really up to you, now is it? If she decides to break up with you that’s her decision.

Unless you meant like cheating in a game of poker or something. That’s no big deal. You should probably make her a sandwich.

3) That’s funny! You can barely understand what I’m saying and I can barely understand what you’re saying about what I’m saying!

In all seriousness, I play the lyre plenty, but I don’t make much money off of it. I made 10 USD from a commission I did for Mr. Orange. I haven’t made any more money this year from it.

4) This has the potential to be a very bizarre question, but I’m fairly certain you mean the band.

I listened to these two tracks. They’re alright, just not really where my interest lie presently. I’d have probably loved it if I were a younger me.

If this was the question I initially thought it to be, this experimental stuff is really hard to listen to. If you can stand it through, there’s plenty to be gained from studying it. I had a little bit of inspiration just sitting through it once. This one’s a lot easier to listen to, but sort of outside what any musical interpretation I can think of for what the question could have meant.

Speaking of any interpretation.

5) I’m alright. How are you?

Not bad. I’ve heard that style of music plenty of times, but I have to admit I’m having a hard time thinking of a Sci-Fi work that used it.

In fact, the only work I can think of at the moment is Timesplitters. Though really, what does the future sound like? And does it always have to have the same energy? Can it relax? What if it needs even more tension than usual? Does this even sound like the future anymore or is it too upbeat/familiar? And if you want something alien

Personally, I’ll always favor retro Sci-Fi for my futuristic. What could possibly be more futuristic than a style of music that will never be popular in the present?

And while I was searching for music before settling on Timesplitter tracks, I stumbled upon this one track from Parasite Eve that was only available on the music CD. Only slightly related, but it’s pretty rad! I wish I could sing like that.
