1) Congratulations! I still owe quite a sum. I’d probably be paid off by now if not for that one semester at a university.

2) Great! Can’t wait! Just let me know what time or message me when you’re around!

3) I had but I hadn’t looked it up until I got this message. It looks pretty cool! Not so sure about starting at level 50, though. When WoW did that with Death Knights the level cap was 70. It’s still only 60 in Tera.

Also, super lazy developers for making it exclusive to Mithra- I mean Elin. No excuse for that.

4) Bon-Bon: Lyra conveniently hurt her leg by… how was it again?

Lyra: Sitting. Sitting with my leg bent too long.

Bon-Bon: Which is evidently a thing that can happen.

Lyra: I can taste the sarcasm in the air. It really did and still does hurt!

Bon-Bon: But only when you bend it.

Lyra: Only when I bend it more than a forty-five degree angle.

Bon-Bon: Right. Right. But as for me, I just helped out where needed.

1) Oh good. I was worried you might be like 57 or something by now. Just let me know when you want to play!

2) Is a game! That I’ve never played! Which seems strange. I’d probably like it. Same with Left 4 Dead.

3) That’s a tough request. I’ve uploaded many tracks, and there’s many more that were never completed, or even recorded. Sweetie Belle’s version of Hush Now Quiet Now has the most listens. I think Tal Tal Mountain sounds the truest to the original. There are recordings I’ll still go back and listen to myself, like Lower Brinstar or Eight Melodies. I think the Deus Ex Theme was my favorite to work on. A lot of ponies liked Pokemon R/B/Y’s Champion Battle.

I mean, I could sit here all night and just list things. But I am sort of working on two different tracks right now. Can’t say when either will be done.

4) Not ringing any bells, sorry. If this is a reference to Slender, I never played it.

5) I… never made that connection. That is truly horrifying.

My favorite episode of Rugrats was Slumber Party. If you have to ask, you’ll never know.

1) Well, while only super effective against Grass and Fairy, a fifty percent chance to badly poison is pretty nice.

Oh, and on my end I decided to bench Inkay since it and Clefairy will both eventually hold the same position (anti-booster). I switched it with the event Celebi that has Hold Back. It’s already been a great aid for catching Pokemon! In real combat though, it will mostly just be supporting with Heal Bell. I’ll switch its setup later on.

2) No. We don’t really celebrate the holiday in Equestria.

3) Oh my gosh! That scared me too! It was late at night and the lights were all out and I was all “What the- What the?!” Made all the scarier because I hadn’t saved in like an hour.

4) I appreciate the thought, but I couldn’t accept.

That does remind me. We were supposed to play together again! I’m almost afraid to ask what level you are now.

Holy moley! Can you break that up next time into a few different asks? That’s a lot of stuff!

1) In Tera? Sorry I don’t know much about that. The stuff I would have bought in that was so ludicrously expensive I never spent the money.

2) Lyra: Oh… My Celestia. They-

Bon-Bon: Now hold your horses, Betty Brown. My father loved you. He thought you were funny, and smart, and witty-

Lyra: And your girlfriend. He only cared about me because he though I was your girlfriend.

Bon-Bon: Well- Who’s fault is it that you aren’t?

Lyra: I… ech- Ugh!

3) Oh. No. It’s a calculation that ponies who work in competitive fields created that places a value on the various stats of a Pokemon. They sort of explain it here. I never took the time to understand it myself. But when planing out a team, I aim for Pokemon that, in their final form (or only form) have around 475 or higher base stat total.

Like you mentioned, Shuckle can have some incredibly high defense/special defense, but its base value in those fields is really only 230 each. However, with everything else added together, that’s more than enough to push it to a 505 total.

4) Hey, as far as I’m concerned, when you’re playing by yourself you should be free to play the game you spent money on however you want. As long as you had fun, that’s what’s important! And that sounded like fun!

5) I take it Vivillon rounded out that number.

6) Oh! Ha! Glad that didn’t upset you after all! And yes, abysmal, not abyssal. It was kinda late at the time.

Well, once I heard about Protean, I knew I wanted a Greninja. While I was breeding starters with their hiddens, I found Iron Fist on Infernape and that it could be tutored Thunder Punch. Knew I wanted that. And when I found out Golurk could still fly, I was all “Oh I gotta have that!”

While still breeding starters, I found out that a Snivy with it’s hidden doesn’t exist. So I looked up the ability, Contrary, and found something that does. Then I recalled fighting a Malamar with it using Superpower to boost its attack and defense (instead of lowering it) and I said “I want it!” I later discovered that the point of Inkay/Malamar is actually Topsy-Turvy, and to that end it would have been better if mine had it’s hidden ability Infiltrator. But I had already restarted so it was too late.

I never used a Fairy-Type Pokemon or move so I wanted a fairy of some kind. Originally it was going to be Sylveon, but while looking through the list I remembered that Clefairy could learn Cosmic Power; which is a move I’ve been wanting to use. While researching it, I found that it also learns the most powerful fairy attack, a heal, and Stored Power (which grows stronger the more buffs you have). On top of all that, when it evolves into Clefable it’s hidden ability becomes Unaware, which ignores enemy buffs. So, since it has a baby form, I grabbed that.

The last one was tough. I wanted something that could Mega Evolve. I wanted a Poison-Type, since I almost never use Poison-Types, but I already have a ghost, so I didn’t want Gengar. That just left Venusaur. And no offense to Venusaur, but I used it a lot back in Red/Blue/Yellow. So I went in another direction with one of the other Mega Evolutions that had caught my eye: Ampharos. A slow, but bulky Electric-Type that not only gains a dragon attack, when it Mega Evolves it gains STAB toward its dragon attack.

Notable mentions to Kangaskhan: who has a great Mega Evolution, and Celebi with Hold Back: who was cut once I realized I didn’t have a Pokemon that could Mega Evolve.

1) Bon-Bon: It’s just nice to be able to cook what I want. Even things that aren’t candy!

2) Oh yeah. There aren’t that many new Pokemon, but there’s more in this game than any other.

Generally you specialize in two stats to max them out, then put the last few points in a third stat. But which stats depends on the Pokemon, the moves, the ability, and the strategy.

Unless you meant tips on the super training mini-game itself. Though the different soccer icons mean different things, I’ve found the best strategy overall is to fire three or four times, then do a charge shot while your energy (the little colored circle) is building back up.

image

1) Wow! You’re some kinda fast! Just let me know when you’re on and I’ll come play! Can’t wait to relearn how to Warrior!

2) That’s very thoughtful of you!

Oh, and the stuff you sent… well… they weren’t really any good.

But hey! If you get to level 55 I have some blue-tier plate gauntlets you can have! The only interest I have in playing Lancer is how cool the female Amani look in their combat stance, and my Berserker is on another server.

All the female Amani combat stances are cool. They’re my favorite.

image

1) I’ve heard nothing but good things, but…

I’m just a po~or ma~re! I ain’t got no money!

2) So… what you’re saying is… Fluttershy sent the top one and you sent the bottom one.

3) You do realize I’m publishing these as revenge for Thanksgiving, right? Just want to make sure you know why.

4) Not to spoil anything, but “that one guy and his group are traitors” doesn’t really mean much in that game.

I think I know where you are. Not sure how fast I can catch up, though. Don’t wait for me if you can manage without. Don’t want to slow you down.

5) The reason Golurk can fly is probably because it’s a ghost. That’d be another cool Eevee; ghost-type.

I’ve seen the still artwork of each Mega Evolution, but I’ve only seen a hoofful in motion.

Oh! Speaking of, thanks to the help of Grey, I’ve restarted my file with some carry over items and my new team is ready! This time I’ve got Protean Froakie, Iron Fist Chimchar, Golett, Inkay, Cleffa, and Mareep.

Still need to EV train them all first, though.

1) Oh! I didn’t know you were still playing! How much further have you got? I loved playing with you and would like to do it again. Of course, if I got on your nerves by killing everything I’d understand if you’d rather go without.

And yeah, the slot increases are pretty steep. I think after the 80 Gold one it goes up to like 300, and then 1,600 or something ridiculous. Still, huge inventory for what you can just carry around with you. Speaking of which, since we’re on my main server, I have some gold. I could toss you 80 if you want. I know you only have one bank slot.

2) According to this, that’s a human country. Never heard of it before. Don’t know why. Seems pretty big. Looks like things aren’t going so well over there right now. Evidently revolutionaries just chased the former president of the country out of office. Lots of riots.

3) Well. Love might be a strong word. I certainly have noticed that I don’t get very many anymore.

4) Ponies would get completely buried in snow that deep!

Well, there’s always been other Lyras in the same dimension as me, so Lyras in other dimensions isn’t such a big deal.

I’ve thought about the Eevee thing before. Just seems a little too specific for me. Plus none of them can learn Fly. There should really be a flying-type Eeveelution. That’d be wicked awesome.

5) You’re already going to be helping me plenty by letting me trade Pokemon with items to you and trade back!

6) And thanks for the Froakie! Not only do I have it, I got lucky and already managed to get a female with Protean! Evidently Ditto/Male Hidden breeding yields much higher chances of passing the ability than just the 20% I read about.

With my full team now ready for the next cycle, I just need to get all the version exclusives for Grey, set up the pokemon I’m temporarily trading with the proper items, and grab the three legendaries I’m missing from this playthrough.

image

image

1) Thanks! And I love my background! It was made by a filly named Applebloom quite a while ago! She was gone for a while but lately there’s been some suspicious numbers popping up on her tumblr page!

2) Oh it’s a huge game changer! I managed to beat the regular singles battle sequence in the Battle Mansion in one try and almost using only one Pokemon! I like a lot of different Pokemon too. That’s why I wanted to play through the game three times! So I can use different teams!

Yep. Pretty much gone now. I can’t even imagine two feet of snow! I’ve never seen that much!

3) Bon-Bon: Nah. Forcing your eye to stay open while you shove a piece of plastic in there isn’t so bad. It’s when something else gets in there that you want to tear your eyes out. But hey! Glasses that tint in sunlight sound pretty snazzy!

4) Thanks! That’d be great! Bearing in mind we’d probably have to trade like ten times, and then trade back. But I can search around X and find all the version exclusives for you to keep if you want!

Also, if no one told you yet, your Pokemon Safari is Ghost-type. You’ve got Phantump and Shuppet. I can’t tell what your third is because we haven’t been on at the same time.

Edit: Oh, one big thing. Before I start over I want to get my hooves on a Protean Froakie/Frogadier. And that might take a while.

Maybe a little. But you do have to remember I started with a full team of six. Plus Skarmory and Miltank both have much higher base stats than normal for that point of the game. And while I turned the EXP Share off at around level 30 (the Champion’s Pokemon were all higher level than mine), I used the same team throughout the entire game, so all exp earned was centralized on them and I only had to Super Train six Pokemon. I also didn’t spend much time in the Battle Chateau.

Not like I’m done yet either. Presently I’m leveling a Dratini I caught to turn it into Dragonite and teach it HMs to free up move slots on my team. I still need to catch the three post-game legendaries and at least unlock all the TMs and stat boosting items in the Battle Mansion.

Although… I’m still throwing around the idea of restarting. After looking some stuff up, the berries aren’t such a huge deal. I can’t seem to find much use for money so buying all the TMs over again shouldn’t matter. So I’d really just need to find somepony to trade Pokemon holding mega evolution stones to, and then trade back. Possibly a few expensive BP items like Life Orb too.

Golly, that does sound pretty involving. Glad you and your family are feeling better.

Oh! You don’t know about super training? It’s a minigame that lets you build up the specific EVs that you want. It’s pretty time consuming (one to two hours per pokemon) but for early game (before you can get the proper supplies) it’s unbeatable in convenience. Speaking of which, I beat the game last night! Haven’t started the post game stuff yet, but I clocked in at around fifty hours. I was going to play through it three times, but I found out you can’t trade items through the Pokebank so I’d have to start all over again with finding all the hidden items and berry types if I reset. So forget that.

And a job! That’s great! Sorry that you don’t like it. Hope you at least get a chance to make some money! Heaven knows I could use some…

I’ve never seen Game Grumps either, despite the picture. But I don’t watch let’s plays.

Oh, and my apologies to Twilight regarding the last post about the weather. Though she did totally miscalculate, making the blizzard necessary, she helped plan for it to be during a warmer period so the snow is mostly gone now.

Thanks for the well-wishes, though!

1) I watched all of the first one, but skipped to the ends of the others (because I can’t sit still long enough). They were pretty neat! I learned some interesting stuff about human politics! I had no idea the UN was such a useless piece of crap! Or that the Trilateral Committee was real, and that it’s power amounted to little more than club for a bunch of rich old ponies!

2) Ah yes. I too will go back to being a pony on Sunday.

3) Oh I got my tail hoofed over to me. I beat Unova and Kanto, and that’s it. Basically anything that involves Pokemon that are EV trained ends in me losing.

BUT! Once I get to X it’ll change because I can properly EV train my Pokemon without it taking the eleventy-billion hours I don’t have! Speaking of which, the whole reason I want Pokebank is so I can start with a select set of low level Pokemon. Other than my Mew I’m not really concerned with the higher level Pokemon I have outside of collecting.

image

1) Oh, that’s not very fun.

Ew. No. World PvP servers are absolutely awful in every game ever. I would never play on one again.

I’ve been playing on Tempest Reach, but my mains are on Celestial Hills; the RP server. You still play, right? We could play together sometime if you want!

2) Well, if you’re just looking for something to do, I spent some 20 hours fiddling either with the battle subway or trying to make a team that could win (spoilers, I evidently suck). Eventually, after talking with my online friend, I just sent myself an army of Dittos holding the TMs I needed. I don’t have whatever kind of time it would take to unlock them all normally, and with all the TMs that Pokemon can’t learn anymore in X (for whatever reason) I needed a back up.

Speaking of which, I finished with Black 2 a few days ago. So, Pokebank? You can go ahead and launch anytime now. I got a full team of level 1-10s waiting for my first run through (Miltank, Skarmory, Gible, Tynamo, and an Eevee that I plan to make a Vaporeon after it learns Baton Pass).

3) Strawberry! Hey! You’ll never believe this, but there’s been this pony walking around impersonating you for the last year or so. Pretty wild, huh?

image

1) Well, I heard Twilight did some calculations with the weather team and had created a pretty mild start to winter. But mare, have things ever taken a blistery turn lately.

I think you mean Join Avenue; and it’s sort of an afterthought as far as town-scaping goes. Breath of Fire 2 probably did it better. As for Poke Studios, the problem is you have to redo movies no matter what in order to unlock them all. And because you or the enemy are still subject to crits and misses, it all just becomes so random and time-consuming. Even with a guide.

Short answer: yes. I hacked myself one of every legendary from every generation minus the three birds and Mewtwo (because I’d rather catch those myself in X, if I can). Long answer: They’re all “legit” in theory, because they’re just copies of real pokemon that somepony somewhere caught or were given at an event. But until Pokebank launches there’s no way of knowing for certain that they won’t be flagged as fake somehow.

Either way I only have them for personal collection. I’d never trade them and I’d never battle in any tier of play that allows legendaries. I’d either get my flank delivered to me or be accused of cheating.

2) Yeah. I just figured that… you know… cats and dogs don’t get along.

3) If you didn’t want to superimpose then you shouldn’t have started placing pictures of your face over every portrait in the house.

And that.

Is.

Irony.
