1) Go ask somepony who gives a [omitted] about another porn tumblr.

2) Be more specific.

3) Well, being around others and interacting positively with them, which is the desired outcome, are two different things. But I’ll assume you meant without fulfilling the need to interact.

You feel drained and unfulfilled. Weak, depressed, upset, and just generally “down,” like you’ve failed. Fortunately, and I’m sure this’ll catch more than a few of you by surprise, extroverts don’t have to interact with other ponies, it’s just the most… uh… Cels I’m saying fulfilling a lot… fulfilling.

We can also interact with objects, you know toss stuff around, manipulate or handle things. I know puzzle toys like Rubik Cubes don’t usually hold my attention for too long, but things like Play-Doh are cool. Get like five bouncy balls and toss them all around at once. Log into City of Ponies, go into a mission and just… beat the crud out of everything!

But as I’ve mentioned before, I also like manipulating stats. Something like WoW I don’t approve of because you’re not really customizing anything, you’re adhering to a strict set of rules that result in essentially what’s required of you and nothing else. But in City of Ponies, things don’t work that way. Powersets can be combined and stats manipulated so far in certain directions that you can make builds that excel in something useful. Even if they’re not the most survivable or do the most damage, they can bring a piece to the table that’s just as good.

I… uh… think I sort of went off topic.

I’ll try not to take this as a lesson that I should complain more often. Answers after the break, or they will be as soon as I find out why the [omitted] page break isn’t working.

1) Yeah, I did read it. What do you want me to do, berate your opinion? I try not to tell ponies what to think if I can help it.

2) Haven’t started working on anything new music-wise yet. To be honest, I don’t exactly have a lot of motivation for it right now.

In an effort to not invalidate anypony else’s question, I’ll answer the other two parts later.

3) I’ve never played a video game that was so bad I had to stop. I’ve stopped playing because it was boring, and there’s tons of games I never finished because I didn’t have the time, but I tend to know by seeing if a game is any good or not. In this way, I avoid games that are terri-bad.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was the worst game I ever played, but I beat that just so no one could say “You didn’t play it long enough” or some-such idiotic argument. In retrospect, that was a horrible idea and I should have just put it down.

And yes, I know of the Angry Video Game Nerd. I don’t find him or That Guy With the Glasses to be entertaining.

4) Bon-Bon’s business is her business. It wouldn’t feel right talking about her. But yeah, we’ve argued a few times about relatively the same thing. I’ll get to that in a minute.

5) We’re supposed to go to a party Pinkie Pie is throwing. But to be honest, I can’t remember which Pinkie Pie is throwing it. Alternate dimensions are confusing.

And unsettling.

6) Twenty-five and three. Not sure why, they were always just nice, round numbers.

7) This is what Bon-Bon and I were arguing about. I don’t know where you got the idea that I was moving along faster than expected, because that never happened. I ran out of ideas for the story I was working on and I’ve been slow to think of any more. I’m trying to shift over to this other project, but it’s hard writing about religion.

I haven’t got much done, and Bon-Bon isn’t pleased. You can force yourself to work, you can force yourself to write if you know what to write about, but you can’t force yourself to come up with an idea.

8) Look around, brony. Everypony is busy. I’m no exception to that. I’m trying to draw more. I’m also trying not to lose my mind.

Maybe I’m just a little stressed out right now. I’m sorry I gave up on the last batch of answers.

9) Played Truth or Dare, threw rocks at walls, play fought with sticks.

Uh… I can’t really think of a PC way to say this, “Talked [omitted].”

Occasionally we’d have a normal game like tag or hide-and-seek.

When I was a little older I sort of stole a Gameboy with a couple of games.

10) I think I’ve lived through enough nightmare scenarios for one lifetime.

I… I can’t even think about it. The short answer is no, I’d probably just die.

1) It’s funny you should ask.

You oughta know better than to think I’m going to answer, but it’s funny you should ask.

2) Well it must be a Hearth’s Warming miracle, if for no other reason than that I didn’t send any tests.

3) Never thought it was that great of a system. Didn’t have much worth playing on it. Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, Smash Bros, Duke Nukem 64, Pokemon Stadium, Ogre Battle: Pony of Lordly Caliber (Also know as really stupid subtitle). Mario Party was alright I guess.

4) Over the course of three characters, I beat the game and all the expansion content. Only game I bothered getting all the achievements in since they were all just stuff you’d normally do through regular gameplay.

Before news of Skyrim came about, I seriously wondered what the point of the Elder Scrolls games would be when Fallout 3 was so much better than Oblivion in every way.

5) I don’t like this character. I’m not going to respond to you anymore.

Rape isn’t funny.

6) Unless the family has explicitly told you to stay away, that’s not how this works. If the filly is going to keep it, you gotta be a stallion and help raise the child.

I would have guessed you would be more interested in the story and development in games.

And I am. Which is why I really don’t see what everypony is freaking out about Skyrim for. Pony Revolution was infinitely better, and you hardly hear anypony mention it anymore.

I certainly haven’t finished all the major storylines yet, but none of the ones I’ve ran into in Skyrim were much to look at. Kill some guys, here’s some werewolves, some guys you never really knew every well die, obvious betrayal, obvious revenge.

The final fight in the Thieves Guild was pretty cool. Beyond that I’m mostly just interested in the mechanics.

Edit: I think part of the problem with Skyrim is that death is treated so insignificantly. Somepony died in a dragon attack? Who cares? Look! Bones! U mus’ B da drawginbohrn!

1) Stop questioning his hygiene!

2) It’s alright, Strawberry. To be honest, I’ve gotten used to it. I actually worry a little if I haven’t heard from you in a day or two.

3) Let me know the rules, and I’ll let you know if there’s something I can compare it to.

Insert Wink.

4) My Celestia doesn’t have a tumblr. She’s entirely too busy for that sort of thing.

5) I did that once in Spore. It was pretty cool at first. Toward the end it got repetitive.

Actually, I sorta want to play it again. That and Bladestorm.

1) You were fine. I don’t blame you.

2) Okay.

3) I liked watching others play, but I was never very good myself.

4) It is pretty dang awesome. In fact, I’ve touched upon it some time ago. And that wasn’t the only time.

5) I don’t appreciate ponies pushing against me to see what they can get away with.

6) I suppose we could. Thanks. That’s a nice idea.

7 & 8) I never yelled at you. I just asked you to stop. Don’t try and play the victim with me.

9) I can understand that position. In a lot of ways it’s a matter of the shear amount of effort you put in giving you a greater invested reward. When you spend a long, long time on something, don’t you feel really good when it’s finished to a level you feel satisfied with (homework and work-work not withstanding)? That’s the fundamental idea behind it versus an alternate multiplayer game. But a good MMO has to offer something that makes the experience not so tedious. That’s where story and innovative gameplay come in. The game needs to either be able to immerse you, or just be really, really fun.

Star Wars: The Old Republic has a really good story to keep you interested when you aren’t playing heavily with others. But to be honest, I don’t really favor how it plays. It’s very WoW-ish, which is extremely boring with a whole bunch of moves you don’t even need.

City of Ponies lets you heavily customize how your character looks and plays while (and this is key) remaining balanced. Champions Online fails in this by forgetting to remain balanced despite being even more customizable than City of Ponies.

But MMOs aren’t for everypony, and I won’t pretend they are.

Gears of war has a more engaging storyline. It's like a movie

I’m not going to disagree with somepony’s opinion. But if this were a question, the answer wouldn’t be no. Rather, it would be…

Presentation and story are not interchangeable. I love Megaman Legends 1 and 2, but its story was actually pretty weak.

All three Deus Ex had good stories. Psychonauts had a good story. TimeSplitter’s Future Perfect had a good story.

Darwinia had an interesting presentation. Skyrim has a robust presentation. One might argue that Gears of War has an engaging presentation, and that would be a little easier to defend than saying it has an engaging storyline.

Fine. Allow me to pick a subject. Video games. Some say they're corrupting the minds of the youth. What say you?

When me and a few others would go clear across Canterlot to this video game store to play some games on the in-store displays, I remember this one filly, way younger than us, that would watch us play Grand Theft Carriage. She even played a few times herself.

She was in advanced classes and made excellent grades. Sorry, I just don’t buy the whole “corrupting youth” thing. Can make ponies more jaded and cynical, maybe. But she never had a problem with it.

By the way, we’d sometimes get paid bits for playing those games by the owners. We’d make them look easy and customers would get drawn in.

Deus Ex: Pony Revolution

So, a while ago some pony asked me how that new Deus Ex game was. They wanted to hear about it after I beat it. So, here is every fault I can find in the game.

What's your favorite video game?

Generally speaking, I don’t have one. All games have gigantic flaws that, at least in part, ruin a perfect experience.

But the answer is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I remember the first time I sat down and played Morrowind and was completely blown away. Then Oblivion came out and I was like, “Not bad! More of the same, but not bad!” Fallout 3 was, “Pretty nice! I’d like some magic and decent buffs, but otherwise pretty swank!”

Human Revolution is like Morrowind, times Fallout 3, to the power of (without mentioning a Deus Ex game in the explanation) the second half of Deadly Premonition.

Best game I’ve ever played, and haven’t even gotten very far. Plus, I usually favor open world games!
