1) We get along just fine, but I’m not supposed to spend much time with her. Tootsie’s mother hates me. She thinks I’m useless trash and doesn’t want me around her daughter.

Even though I know she wouldn’t show me the same courtesy, I try to respect her wishes. If nothing else, I don’t want Tootsie or Bon-Bon to wind up getting in trouble.

2) And you see how easy it is to not notice it? How easy it is to live your life completely unaware?

3) Bon-Bon: Lyra’s been helping me research for that. I’m trying to sprinkle in simple french words and phrases to really sell it.

Bon-Bon: “How are tu? J'adore your costume!”

Lyra: I loved it as much when I first played it as I do now. And I don’t really know what you mean, no.

4) I’m not too worried. I’ll still look awesome either way.

Uh… Good luck with that kilt, though.

5) Lyra: Milky Way.

Bon-Bon: Kit-Kat, I guess. I don’t really eat candy bars.

1) Oh, absolutely! Tots required listening.

2) Even twenty years ago? Well, I’m sure you’re not the only one that feels that way. One working theory is the rise and fall of renaissance-style movements. Current “modern music” as a classification beginning only after the end of he last musical renaissance, which itself would have taken place sometime around your 1950s-1980s. It’s all based on nothing more than opinion for now, though.

And of course, if somepony from your world’s distant past heard some 80’s metal they’d probably be all, “Da [omitted]-ith be this depravity inflected upon mine ears?” And then Lyra would have to smack them for speaking ill of Ratt’s Round and Round; one of my favorite songs.

3) Bon-Bon: Why thank you very much! I’m not used to anypony paying so much attention to me! Sweetie Drops is open from 9 to 9 so I would say twelve hours, but I don’t really work during that whole time. It’s just if anypony happens to drop in I’m there.

Bon-Bon: Well, as one can imagine Lyra has exposed me to all sorts of music. But I tend to like the lighter, more upbeat ones. There’s this one really good one that I listen to sometimes.

4) That’s pretty cool. Kinda like a resort?

But I didn’t know they built preplanned school house-style facilities. Figured that was just a rural thing. Converted churches and what-not.

image

1) Princess Celestia, of course! After all, I owe her my life.

2) The original Rayman was pretty cool, but oh mare was it ever hard! I never played Oregon Trail, only Organ Trail. I did play SimFarm, though. That was way too confusing for how old I was at the time. Pretty sure it’d just bore me these days.

3) Bon-Bon: Usually somepony will buy their candy a month or so in advance, then eat it all, then buy some more, then possibly do it again before the holiday ends. And if that’s all I was supplying for, it wouldn’t be such a big deal. But while the holiday season is going on I still have my regulars like Pinkie Pie, the do-it-yourselfers, the arts and crafts crowd, parties, the odd order or two of considerable size. It adds up.

Bon-Bon: But yes, I work alone. As long as I can keep up with all the orders, which I can, there’s a lot more to be made without hiring help. It’s not like I supply candy to all of Equestria.

Bon-Bon: I’ve heard of the show, but I’m so busy I can’t keep up with my own shows, let alone start another.

image

1) Does The Incredible Machine count? Also, why did I think Sierra made Rayman?

2) Okay. Well, a foal got mad and spat in my face twice last Tuesday so if you’re trying to outdo me you’ve got an uphill battle if your chief complaint is wearing a suit.

3) I’m not contagious but I’m still pretty sick. Thanks! Bon-Bon made me some scrambled eggs for dinner. It’s not sitting on my stomach very well right now but that’s future Lyra’s problem.

4) Lyra: It was yesterday! Not as crazy as last year’s, though. There were so many explosions! But we had fun this year too.

Lyra: Today was Summer Wrap-Up, which I was well enough to participate in but sick enough to be exhausted now.

Bon-Bon: Are you kidding? This is when ponies start buying candy for Nightmare Night. If I only just began now I’d be dead-in-the-water by the time it comes around! Preparations for me begin at the start of August. Then I immediately have to begin working towards Hearth’s Warming. And by the start of December nearly all future chocolate production has to be for Hearts and Hooves.

Bon-Bon: My busiest time of the year is over half of the year. Time for relaxation and trying new recipes is long since over.

image

1) The posts have been pretty much all over the place, but I assume you mean the human thing. What about it?

2) I don’t know what that is, so… maybe it already does?

3) Bon-Bon: Well, I don’t typically sell perishable produce; doesn’t keep for long enough. At the same time, I don’t know of anypony that grows strawberries and sells them with chocolate. Like I’ve said though, I can do special orders upon request. So you’d just come on down to Sweetie Drops ahead of time, and I’d make it happen. High quality and for cheaper than you’d suspect!

4) I hear that. I’m still paying off the the last two visits I had when my leg was petrified and then later broke.

I feel tired a lot right now, but that’s mostly because I don’t really have anything to do. Once school starts back up next week I’m hoping to change that. Still hoping I can get on permanent as an aid.

image1) Not trying to be disrespectful if this is legit, but I’ve got a virus from a website before and it’s not fun. This seems sort of spammy so I need some evidence that I’m not going to regret going there.

2) Yeah, but medical bills can be killer. But if you can afford it I’d go. Could be something simple, but threatening as Anemia caused by dietary iron deficiency. I had that for a little while when I was younger. Felt tired and sick all the time.

3) There were plenty of games that were playable, just not a whole lot that were memorable or didn’t have superior sequels that negated their predecessors.

I do miss the minimal load times of cartage games from that era, though. Start game. Pick mode. Pick character. Start race. No load screen. No awkward pause. Nothing. Even freakin’ New Leaf has load screens.

And it’s cool. Ya just doesn’t has to call me Johnson.

4) Bon-Bon: Yeah… A shame. I mean, what mare wouldn’t want to be called Drops. Or Doctor Oops. But you can call me Bonnie, if you’d like.

Bon-Bon: And sure, I have some regular suppliers. I don’t grow anything myself, if that’s what you were asking. But I also might shop around on occasion. You know, make sure I’m not being gouged. You’d be surprised how little years of loyalty means until a supplier loses a big customer. Then it’s all, “I’m sure we can work something out.”

image

1) Well sure, I’ve always wanted to make a game. Just as visual medium has it’s limitations, so does writing. I’ve messed with RPG Maker tons of times. I had a really cool project I was working on once but my computer fried and I lost around 6 months of work. Heavy work. Tried starting back up on it, but motivation was just gone. It was one of those multiple perspective things where you don’t really know what’s going on until you play as everypony. The cool part (at least I thought it was cool) was that each team was going to play differently. Oh well, I swept that under the rug long ago.

Hey! I just remembered I wrote a screenplay for an original series once! Takes place on human earth in modern times, but there’s magic, but magic only started to really proliferate when the internet arose and information about how to do it became easy to access. So the dynamic is law enforcement agencies struggling to keep up order in a world where all sorts of forces, or even random civilians (both criminal and non), are racing to become “all powerful” or at least to get away with whatever they want.

Got an A on the assignment.

2) I’ve touched on this before; it’s basically a cultural thing. Know what to look for. Learn how to spot refrains. Somepony will climb a building slow enough that others can see and they’ll climb up too and we’ll all go jumping from rooftop-to-rooftop.

Don’t try that at home, fillies and colts.

3) Bon-Bon: Sure I’d count mints as candy! Unless they’re mint leaves. But I don’t count cocoa beans as candy either. I don’t think anypony does.

Lyra: I always chew gum for too long and then my jaw gets tired.

4) Yeah, it wasn’t as good as the comics, but I still liked it. And that’s awful sweet of you. I was thinking of maybe trying it out while playing either Super Mario Kart or maybe Shadowrun Return’s starter campaign again. I’m kinda curious how awful I’d do at Mario Kart these days.

image1) Uh… Dragonball. Kirby. Bobobo. Cowboy Bebop. Big O. Shin Chan. I’m sure there’s a bunch of other ones. They were okay at passing the time.

But Speed Racer and Robotech were where it’s at, yo. Oh! And Hamtaro! Little hamsters! Big adventures!

I also watched a marathon of Sailor Moon for like… six hours. And there’s this one incredibly raunchy, and several times explicit, show called Ebichu. But there’s some really funny parts in it!

2) Uh… It’s not that I think you’d purposely give me anything that would hurt me, but I might not like what it does. I don’t like surprises.

No shed, but what would you be storing and for how long?

3) Cool! I mean, I don’t know how much fun it would be to play a sidescrolling Deus Ex, but it still looks great!

Also, I got that other submission you sent in and have been looking through them when I have the time.

4) Not in particular. I do look up some stuff about humans, though. Also, I can’t sing that well.

5) Bon-Bon: Hey! I’m not trying to tell you how to eat! Do what you want! I would be surprised to hear you ate ten, though. You’d probably start to feel sick after four or five.

Lyra: Oh, if I only had the money to eat as much candy as I want… I’d probably spend it on pasta.

image

1) I read this thing once about this “inner thigh cutie mark.” I laughed forever. It’s so completely ridiculous, and yet so incredibly creative. How does anypony even think to make something like that up? I like that one because, while a little adult, it’s mostly benign.

There are some ponies that seem to think your world’s culture is comprised entirely of American/Canadian and that you only have one language.

2) But why a line of toys designed as that particular age group marketed toward foals? Adults I can understand, but why an age where most still live with their parents and have to go to school? For that matter, why design it around school at all? Don’t kids hate school?

3) Fortunately for me, I like first and third pony shooters. So even if it’s garbage I can still play it. It’s just the “period accurate weapon” ones I hate. I don’t want to fire an inaccurate weapon that takes forever to reload and keeps jamming. That’s annoying. I’m trying to have fun, not get an authentic experience for murdering others.

I don’t really play JRPGs anymore. I used to be really into them. I think the last one I played was a pirated copy of Etrian Odyssey 3. Which was okay, but the pace was so dreadfully slow. Very grindy.

The only sports games I liked were the arcade-y ones. I don’t even understand the more accurate ones. Why don’t you just watch sports if you like it that much? Aren’t there recordings going back decades? Or better yet, play it yourself!

4) Bon-Bon: Well, I’m certainly not trying to change your mind or anything. I was just giving my opinion. Being around candy as much and as long as I have you start to be more careful about what and how much you take in. I would never eat a single candy bar in one or even two sittings.

Lyra: I haven’t tried that, no. I can’t afford candy much these days so when I do I just stick with Starburst, Skittles, Candy Corn; things like that. There’s loads of them and you can buy them up in bags for pretty cheap!

image

1) Is that really important?

2) Bon-Bon: I prefer the smoother taste of milk chocolate, but I see where you’re coming from.

Lyra: I like white chocolate. I know it’s not chocolate, but it’s awesome.

Bon-Bon: Nougat that you find in candy is usually table sugar, corn syrup, and what is known as a whipping agent. There isn’t a uniform recipe for it between businesses, but some of them use egg whites. After you have the core substance together, you can flavor it a number of different ways.

Bon-Bon: I don’t personally care for nougat; it’s basically filler so that a candy bar is cheaper to make. If you want to eat chocolate and caramel with possibly some nuts, I’d recommending eating a little chocolate and caramel with possibly some nuts. If you want to eat something filling, I recommend eating food. But money is money. Whatever ponies eat is what I stock.

Lyra: For the record, I like Milky Way and I think it would taste awful without nougat.

3) For some reason, the demand for “gray-[omitted] shooter” is large enough for multiple companies to fight over. There’s even room enough for the same type of “gray-[omitted] shooter” and have several still be successful. That’s not the companies’ fault; that’s the consumer. When folks stop buying crap, companies will stop making it.

If Soul Reaver/Blood Omen left any legacy (of Kain), it’s evidence that the demographic for action/adventure/puzzler doesn’t want competition. Which is great for Neightendo! For everypony else… Well, sometimes we get a new Deus Ex game.

image

1) What, again? It’s barely been 24 hours!

Just one, though. No “S”.

2) Alright, I suppose. Hasn’t been very Luigi-esque over here, though. I don’t seem to own the appropriate systems.

3) So that’s why the moon was so bright Saturday! Other than the moon being really bright when I went on a quick market run, no. The Summer Sun Celebration was the day before, but I missed it. I think it was in Baltimare or something this year. They seem to get a lot of events there.

4) Bluh; meat.

Bon-Bon: Many, yes! Everything from soft-shelled chocolate bites to chocolate wafer bars!

Bon-Bon: There’s a lot of chocolate.

imageBon-Bon: A kiss, hmm? Haha! But I don’t individually wrap them. I just put them in a segmented container. I also can’t call them a Kiss, so they’re chocolate drops.

Bon-Bon: Lyra will eat a single potato chip. It’s kinda freaky; I’ve never seen anypony else do that.

Bon-Bon: Also, hi Lyra! Hope you’re enjoying yourself! The dog is doing fine without you! Love the pictures you took!

image

Bon-Bon: She has a second photoset queued for tomorrow morning, too!

image

1) Bon-Bon: Strictly candies? The molded, powdery stuff can be pretty tough. But outside of candy I have a pretty tough time with truffles for some reason.

Bon-Bon: … Wait, I think I misread. Oh. Sorry, I don’t give out recipes. That’s kinda how I make money.

2) Bon-Bon: Ha ha, okay, I think you win.

3) Phase-style like Disgaea or per character-style like Final Fantasy Tactics?

4) You’re not real.

5) I don’t own one, but I borrow one from time to time.

image

1) I think I just didn’t like the battle system, though to be honest it’s been so long I can’t even remember why.

2) Lyra: CC:GG!

Bon-Bon: Ennn… Ponyville is a smaller market. Black licorice is a little too niche. I mean, I could produce some upon order, but it’s not something I’d just stock. I’ve never heard of those jelly beans before. Frankly, it sounds like a pretty terrible idea. But then again I hate buttered popcorn jelly beans and I swear regular variety packs are full of them.

3) Oh certainly! I’ve been working on a pen and paper system of my own on and off for a little while now. Haven’t physically touched it much lately but I’m still rolling around ideas.

Also, if you were wondering why, I still consider that slang to be a swear.

4) B: If the idea is that no one will ever see them again, then there’s no reason not to destroy the copies and the originals, unless you want them intact so that someone can come along for them later. If that someone doesn’t wind up just being you.

B: Alternately, if you turned them in they could be researched, categorized, and stored in a much more secure location. Should the day arise that the contents are ever needed, as authorized by the royal family, they would be intact and easily located amongst the vast, restricted, royal libraries.

image

1) Bon-Bon: Haha! Well, I don’t know if anypony is eating the stuff, but candy corn is a pretty reliable seller around Nightmare Night.

Lyra: I like candy corn!

2) Well, there isn’t really that much to maintain. I’ve never had to replace anything on any of my lyres other than the strings, and I don’t physically touch them so even then only rarely.

I saw Battle Network being played quite a bit when it first came out. The combat style was completely uninteresting to me. The whole reason I played Network Transmission was because it didn’t play at all like Battle Network.

3) B: How very illegal for you to possess. Also convenient that you’ve no desire to share what you shouldn’t have in the first place. Though I suppose if you were responsible enough to realize that you wouldn’t be attempting to justify it. In vain, if you were wondering.

Strawberry, I thought these were just old spell books. B’s right; that stuff is outlawed and illegal to own. You have to get rid of them. Turn them in, destroy them, whatever you have to do.

4) I’m sorry, but I already know how to bowl! I’m not pro or anything, but I almost got a 150 last time I played. And that was after not playing for a lo~ng time.
