Lyra: I don’t know. I didn’t like the first episode since the hiatus ended. I just really liked the second one.

Blossomforth: Well, what about the song?

Lyra: Ugh. It was like they were trying to channel Art In Distress and wound up with Raze This Barn.

Blossomforth: I liked Raze this Barn!

Lyra: What? Is there a single song you don’t like?

Blossomforth: I didn’t like In This Town.

Lyra: Are you kidding me? You didn’t like the one song that’s intentionally unnerving, but you liked Raze This Barn?

Blossomforth: There’s nothing creepy about Raze This Barn! It’s about how we shouldn’t fear natural destructive forces!

Lyra: You read an analysis online, didn’t you?

Blossomforth: N-No?

Lyra: Anyway. I did really like Rafferty and Rainart in the newest episode.

Blossomforth: So did I! It was great! Couldn’t you just scream when Raff booped Rain’s nose?

Lyra: Oh Cels… You’re Rainerty shipping trash aren’t you?

Blossomforth: But they’re so good together!

Lyra: Everypony knows Jakerty is the one true ship.

Blossomforth: Is not!

Had another dream. This one was about going out to catch-and-release rabbits. I was really young, but Bon-Bon wasn’t? Anyway, we would grab the rabbits, they weren’t very fast for some reason, and feed them carrots. Then we’d let them go. I don’t remember there being anything else to it. Maybe they were sick and we were trying to help them?

But then I saw a pony acting like a rabbit. So I caught the pony and fed them carrots, and then they stopped acting like a rabbit. They said they were a nun and they lived out in the forest. When I tried to tell Bon-Bon, she wanted nothing to do with them. So I head into the forest with the pony and we find an old, abandoned church, and she’s all like: “What happened here?“ And it never got that far, but the dream seemed to be implying that she was from the past or something. And that Bon-Bon knew the church was abandoned and that’s why she didn’t want to get involved.

There also seemed to have been some side thing going on where I was turned into a colt and some other colt was trying to teach me how to pee accurately. Something about contracting muscles to narrow the stream for more control? Anyway, when I woke up I had to pee. But is that a… is that a thing?

The Secret World is… something. It’s an MMO that falls on the Guild Wars side of the mechanical spectrum. That is, a crucial, limited number of abilities you can access at any given time (but can switch) vs. the WoW-style of an abundance of abilities, but most of them range between situational to useless unless you spec into them. The GW-style tends to make combat much harder than WoW-clones, but also more interesting and engaging to play.

Much like Star Wars: The Old Republic, a major focus of the game is in storytelling. Where Secret World has a leg up is in atmosphere and the characters. I’ve yet to finish the first area (I’m in the third map for it), but I can tell you definitively that the characters you meet, what they’re doing, and how they interact with one another is so much more interesting than anything I witnessed in SWTOR.

However, and this is my largest issue with the game. It’s unoptimized as all get-out. Even after playing Archeage, I’ve never seen an MMO this bad. Just logging into the game takes 1.2 million kilobytes (on DX9 with the sliders on 0). And I’ve witnessed memory leaks drag that as high as 1.6 million. I say witnessed, because I know it can get worse, but I never got the chance to see how bad it can get before it crashed my entire computer. I now periodically monitor the game in my Task Manager and reboot if memory usage gets too high.

You’ll also have to frequently tab out or use the game’s built-in web browser to look up what you’re supposed to do, because a lot of the game’s puzzles are ridiculously convoluted. And can bug. I’ve yet to encounter a bug that halted progression entirely. But I’ve had to wait, or repeat steps, or in one instance even log out of my character and back in to get the mission to advance.

I got the game on sale, and it has certainly been worth the price in story and character interaction alone. And as I understand it the game used to be a lot harder than it is now. But it’s still pretty hard.

Edit: I’m looking forward to Bladestorm: Nightmare releasing on Steam!

Okay, so last night I had a dream- not a nightmare- and it was strange. I don’t remember how it started, but an old foalhood friend of mine and I, as adults, were in a play. It took place in a naval academy through three sets- all of which were set up at once- and we and the other actors would move between the sets as appropriate through, like, prop walls.

I seemed to be replacing some other actor. And my character was trying to propose to my friend’s character. We both loved each other, but my friend’s character was, I think, worried I was trying to advance our relationship too fast or something. There were some religious undertones and her character was very specific about wanting to get married for the right reasons. But she was about to leave the academy for some long voyage, and I couldn’t go for some reason.

Anyway, the whole thing eventually leads up to the big final scene where the center set turns out to actually be a secret forth set, as the walls of the building lower to reveal that the stairs were really the gangplank to board the ship. And my character and her character have our last conversation about love and marriage. And I remember my character said something along the lines of:

“I don’t feel that you will have changed when you get back. But the world will have.“

And that lead into a sorrowful, musical number for the ending, where it’s implied that their character leaves. And then everypony started clapping and the play was over and we all just kinda left the set to talk to the audience or something? I woke up soon after.

Mare, though. I wish I remembered that song. I remember it being really emotional and good.

Edit: Oh, and she and I were the lead singers of the song.

Legend of Mana | Title Theme

Wow. I mean, I remember tracks like this from Legend of Mana. But I honestly don’t remember this one. This is fantastic!

asklyra did you know that bonbon used to be a nerd

did you know this.

Lyra: Used to be?

Bon-Bon: Uh huh huh huh huh. I wear contacts now, big whoop.

Lyra: Not sure where you got this, but the three of us were talking and I know the Lyra that’s in that picture behind Bon-Bon. We even hung out for a bit during Rainbow Dash’s Birth-iversary!

As an aside, ponies look at you funny when you’re standing next to somepony that looks just like you.

imageLyra: I would love to see a celebrity gossip spot with Krastos. Overall, though, I find it highly suspect that a show called Bon-Bon and Lyra seems to have neither of us in it. Unless one of us is dressed up as that one fat guy behind the dumpster.

Bon-Bon: … What are you talking about? What is this?

Lyra: Oh, that’s right. This is your first time seeing One Lyra to Live, isn’t it?

Bon-Bon: What?

Lyra: What was the Gilda version called again? As the Griffon Flies? Days of our Gilda?

Bon-Bon: What?

Edit: Lyra: Found it! It was As the Griffon Flies!

spike-in-weirdworld:

No translation this time. HAHA!

and I know one thing: google translator is useless to understand this post :D

but don’t worry, there are no bad word!

(I will let you know if you want.)

Lyra

Oh, you cheeky devil, you.

You’d really leave your old buddy Lyra in the dark about what you said? I’m hurt, Spike! I thought we were Canterlot homies!

[Original ask lost. Something to the effect of translation via magic.]

Well, I didn’t think I could, but maybe… Hr~ng…

[Gasping for breath] That… that takes a lot out of you… Excuse me while I pass out on to the… on to the floo-…

[Thud]

Yes, I’d like to know what you said.

Celestia [omitted]. I mean just [omitted] A, dude. Why in the [omitted] would you-? I mean, God!

Look. I don’t know what kind of upper limits you’ve been researching, but I’ve never come into contact with anything near that size! The width of something that long alone-… Death. No question.

I mean, Celestia [omitted]! What the [omitted] do you think our anatomy looks like?!

As far as the maximum on a bear? You can ask Krastos, but I wouldn’t hold your breath on an answer.

1) Woah woah woah! I said I didn’t do very well. But that was mostly because I rarely had time to do homework. And I didn’t flunk out of anything, thank you very much! I left for personal reasons. I could go back!

2) … Okay. I could have saved you some time on that, what with the horns, wings, abnormal strength, and heightened intelligence.

3) Magic can be used to generate heat. Does that count?

4) We speakin’ in whale?

No thank- Nnnnooooo tttthhhhaaaaannnkkkk yyyoooouuuuUUU!

5) Welp.

6) Excuse me? (Caution: rewinding the video leads to explicit language/adult situations)

I know you’re trying to get me to… reply with an antonym to yes, but you’ll have to work for it!

1) Does she even want Pokemon B&W2? I don’t think I’ve heard her mention it.

2) That sounds lovely. Where are you right now?

3) And I’m just saying, I have no ability to make that happen. You’re preaching to the choir, which is sort of without purpose.

4) This was the post that I initially heard about it from. Don’t really have anything to say about it. Don’t really care enough to be honest.

5)

6) Can my goals be ethereal and not truly formed? I mean, right now I’m just trying to get rid of some debt and play some bills.

Edit: Source I put isn’t showing up on my dashboard. So, here it is.

Not bad. I’ve heard that style of music plenty of times, but I have to admit I’m having a hard time thinking of a Sci-Fi work that used it.

In fact, the only work I can think of at the moment is Timesplitters. Though really, what does the future sound like? And does it always have to have the same energy? Can it relax? What if it needs even more tension than usual? Does this even sound like the future anymore or is it too upbeat/familiar? And if you want something alien

Personally, I’ll always favor retro Sci-Fi for my futuristic. What could possibly be more futuristic than a style of music that will never be popular in the present?

And while I was searching for music before settling on Timesplitter tracks, I stumbled upon this one track from Parasite Eve that was only available on the music CD. Only slightly related, but it’s pretty rad! I wish I could sing like that.

1) I don’t really know too much about bear holidays.

This bear version of Hearts and Hooves Day sounds interesting…

2) Gorilla~z!

Oh my Cels! What an incredible collab project! My hat’s off to every artist that’s ever worked on that! If I ever get big I’d love to do something like that!

Grave Digger’s still my favorite band.

Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is an incredible piece.

The entire soundtrack to Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, minus one, has such a powerful presence. Same goes for the soundtracks to Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari to a lesser extent, though I can’t speak for the others in the series as I haven’t played them.

I suppose artists or albums that run the gambit instead of the same style throughout catch my attention the most, and that’s what I like to play.

Laharl’s one weakness.

3) Just listen to something else.

Of course, you know, the songs you grow to like never stick at first

4) Err… Uh… Oh look! A reply from Boscov!

It was… uh… …Let me check the recipe again to remind myself of the name… Oh yes, now I remember… It was… double tomato bruschetta.

Ah yes. Double Tomato Bruschetta. Thanks for the save, Boscov!
