I think one of your messages got lost or something, because I had to looking up a lot of what you were talking about.

I would have choose to fight, if I intervened at all. Not because I believe in the cause or anything, but because running away is just asking to be chased down. If a group of ponies are against you, you can’t ever trust them to willingly let you go. No matter how secure the destination, you may never even reach it. But I doubt I’d have got involved. Two groups fighting over land that isn’t any of my business doesn’t concern me.

Princess Celestia, on the other hoof, has never played within the constraints presented to her. When forced to choose whether to reseal her sister or let Nightmare Moon take over (and possibly destroy) the world, she chose to take the time to train somepony to act as a catalyst that would ultimately free Luna entirely. If she were manipulating events, I’m positive she would have found some way to unite the two groups together under a common cause. Spare the Sorrows innocence and spare the White Legs without so much as a fight.

Princess Luna might have choose to spare the innocence of the Sorrows too, but again, not the way you’re thinking. Her powers could devastate an army, if given half a preemptive chance. She could wear the White Legs down in their sleep and then eliminate them as a threat with just a hoofful of troops, if not turn them against each other.
