A system organized around the weakest qualities of individuals will produce the same qualities in its leaders.

Does that mean I don’t get the job?

Found this on Something Awful.

“Somehow I don’t think this Deus Ex ending is canonical.”

That’s the trouble with Dentons these days. No sense of Proportion!

image

1) Okay. So this one time I was watching somepony else play Deus Ex: Invisible War, and he was dragging somepony’s body around and decided to put them in a burning trashcan. Well, something in the physics bugged (very common back then) when he did it, and the trashcan slowly tilted backward… Then lurched forward and flung the body through the air, ragdolling and on fire, off into the distance!

But that wasn’t the end. About an hour later he stumbles upon the wreckage of a huge robot with a burning corpse smack dab in the middle of it. We all busted out laughing!

2) How about we not talk about that?

3) Sounds like I was right to avoid it. I don’t like horror anything.

4) Close enough.

5) “Who writes this [omitted]?”

6) Remember that one bathroom scene from Liar Liar (mild language)? Basically that.

image

1) I kept this one back when I was deleting some of the nonsense questions because it’s a pretty awesome track.

2) Sure takes me a while to answer questions, huh?

3)

image

4) Uh, alright. I’ll be waiting then. Not that you’re obligated or anything.

5) Sure, but they each represent a theology. That society’s leadership should be hidden and exclusive, that societies are better off governing themselves, or that all societies are meant to be unified under the direction of one unquestionable leader.

Of course, those aren’t the only options. Just the only choices in the game.

image

1) Thank you! I think I’d rather be compared to more of a role model-figure, no offense to Dash- I’d like to think she’s perfectly aware that her general behaviors aren’t the best to mimic, but thanks again!

2) Actually, yeah! That was pretty awesome! Makes me want to see a Deus Ex remake where you could switch to 3rd person for melee combat, action-arcade style. Like Dead Rising or Shenmue but, you know, balanced.

3) Is that a thing? Never heard of it.

4) Alright, Krastos, you win. I’m not arguing about it.

5 & 6) I don’t know that either of those are the answer. The second one definitely not, because it will never happen. And the first would be impossible to enforce.

7) I’m not afraid! I just don’t want to!

image

1) I’ll keep that in mind.

2) When I say short term, I’m talkin’ a few decades at the least. We’re not even talking about immediate issues. The problem with the Illuminati is the exact problem it had during the events of the first game. Ponies that meant well starting an organization that can wind up in the hooves of those less than suitable to lead. Those are the wild animals in my analogy. Sure, JC might do a good job within his division, but then what? What about the rest of the organization? What comes after he’s gone?

Ignoring the events of Invisible War for a moment, the point of the Helios ending is more of a sacrifice. A sacrifice of identity and a focus on the self in favor of an inescapable whole. This is directly mirrored by the need for JC to sacrifice part of who he is to become one with Helios. The downside of this, even if you’re willing to give away your freedom, is that as evidenced by Invisible War, it isn’t inescapable. That directly results in the second Helios ending in two, and I can’t help but feel a little unnerved whenever I watch it.

3) I don’t think you understand what hawks do to lizards.

4) Sounds like the beginnings of one of those hipster posts, probably with some caption like, “There is no formula to identity.”

5) You know, I never heard the whole song before. I figured the line was always just taken out of context. To that end, the last line of the chorus is interesting.

“Isn’t this a nightmare too?”

6) I’m not suicidal!

image

1) Spoilers: The answer is Spoilers.

2) How do you put a date on something like that?

3) I’m not really liking the direction this is going. The answer is pretty obvious either way.

4) Did you say lizard?

image

5) ‘Cept for the blood.

6) I was a thief, not a bully.

7) Because there is no long term solution and the other two choices do nothing for the short term. If the grass in your yard grows too tall, the best you can do is mow it down to size. If you let it keep growing you’re going to get wild animals, and if you yank it all out, you’re left with mud when it rains. You recognize when you cut it that it’s going to grow back, but there’s really no other choice.

1) There’s usually at least some stuff changed. The more extreme changes are typically if the game takes place on what is obviously human Earth. If so, then the setting is altered.

Some of the races are done on foot; some are done with horse-drawn carriages.

2) Nah.

3) A temporal rift would open up and alter the past. Either that or nothing.

4) No thanks!

5) It’d feel a lot better if it wasn’t just a comic book.

6) I used to when I was younger. I can’t stand it anymore. I can’t even tell if it’s gone bad or not.

7) I think most ponies picked Helios. On the surface, it’s the nice, peaceful choice. If you dive deeper though, all of the choices had perks and drawbacks. From my position now, I’d say New Dark Age is probably the best choice, though I’d never have the heart to go through with it if I was in J.C’s position.

Plus, I love that ending. It always gave me goosebumps.

1) Dude, I have no idea. There are no schools in Equestria that are specifically for griffons. I’ve never taught at one, I’ve never been to one, so I have no idea what to compare to.

2) Not that I know of. I mean, it’s possible and I just don’t know they’re from here.

In fact, only one I can think of off the top of my head is this country band that plays at this one restaurant every Tuesday, but I’ve never been while they’re performing.

3) If you were comparing a shotgun to the arm vs. death, you might have a legitimate argument. There would almost certainly be residual effects to the non-lethal attacks compared to them not happening. But against being killed? No. No question. If you’re talking about reaction time being lowered by even a full second, that’s compared to it being lowered by… forever!

4) A legitimate position, but where’s the proof that the cameras came before the following?

5) I’ll take my chances.

6) Bleh! No! … I mean… No.

I love Dark Cloud.

1) Maybe just nice, safe, time restricted hugs.

2) Now this is a good edit! Very funny and I loved how the creator even designed the layout to be similar to the first area in Pony Revolution.

However, considering the whole thing was created as commentary against the third game, I’ll still never understand Deus Ex fans. I liked all three games.

3) It was a polished game. I remember it being very well balanced and the town design mechanic was interesting. You know, where you talk to the ponies to find out what they want and adjust the town’s layout so that everypony is happy? I thought that was really cool!

Only problem was the game was too long for what it was and the last character was garbage. By the time I unlocked him, tried him out, and his weapon broke almost immediately, I just didn’t care anymore.

1) You bet.

While we’re on the subject of nonsense, I also ship Big Mac x Fluttershy, Spike x Cutie Mark Crusaders, and Rainbow Dash x Daring Do.

Oh, and Angel x Queen Chrysalis.

2) I think you’d taste a lot deader if you tried.

3) But straight ponies are free to screw up families, is that right?

Why is this an argument at all? Gay marriage has never been illegal in Equestria. The moment the institution of marriage began it was already legal.

4) You want an autograph…? From…

image

ME…? HE HE HE HE HE~!

I’ll sign it! I’ll sign it a hundred times!

5) I’ll lead that mob. That mistake will be your last.

6) What about the theoretical “heaven” being called Celestia?

One more.
Sorry, I love Deus Ex.

One more.

Sorry, I love Deus Ex.

Oh my Celestia… Navi was a parasprite!

Oh my Celestia… Navi was a parasprite!

hello miss Lyra. Just want to say you're awesome, and hopefully make you a bit jelly. If things go well, me and my creator should be getting a copy of Adam Jensen's jacket as a late birthday gift when we head home.

That’s okay. I would prefer JC Denton’s coat. Adam’s collar is too high and the shoulder’s fit too formally. Plus, cliche as it may be, I just prefer JC and Paul as characters.

Adam has a more believable motivation for the everymare to be sure. But JC and Paul’s storyline hinges more on the notion that they’re just good ponies by nature trying to do the right thing.

That’s pretty radical though. If you can, I’d love to see a picture of it!

What do you think of the idea letting yourself get mechanically augmented to have the abilities of the other pony species?

To be honest, when playing the first two Deus Ex games, I was all about nano-augmentation and got everything I could. But when I was playing Deus Ex 3, I was disappointed to find out that not turning on your augmentations had no bearing on the story (obviously there wouldn’t be any physical changes, but I would have expected a psychological aspect of refusing to use them).

I guess at the nano-technical level, it’s invisible so you don’t think about it. And I understand if it’s a replacement for an injury. But the idea of purposely removing a body part to replace it with an enhanced one? It just seems… unnatural to me.

Now, I would never choose death over it, or even to live handicapped if there’s an option. And when you throw in neurological augmentations to improve higher brain functionality? Things get really shaky. But I would like to think I would accept only what was necessary to retain what would have been lost.

Cliche, maybe, but…
