I feel sick and I’m steadily developing a headache. I saw this message and went to the website to check, thinking it was just a troll message. I literally found out ten minutes ago.

I started playing with Issue 6. It’s been a part of my life, however large or small, for a long while now. When I first started, Masterminds only had four primaries. Villains could only get to level 40. There were no allied zones, no inventions, no alignment system, and certainly no incarnate endgame. I had all these ideas and plans for the future. Alts I wanted to make, stories for them, inter-character dynamics between existing characters. And that’s all pretty much just up in smoke now- it was for sets that haven’t been introduced yet.

The game never reached any semblance of an ending. It at least had a climax with the Preatorian War ending. But there was still the Battalion and Coming Storm, which was supposed to be Issue 25- the very next one. The notion that the Well of Furies was actually evil; basically the source of all superpowered conflict in the multiverse. Ouroboros was supposed to be destroyed at some point, dealing a huge blow to time travel. Things were marching toward not just an endgame resolution only for something more to be added later, but an end story resolution.

Probably the worst part is how sudden this was. Not just to us but obviously the developers. They were talking about things they wanted to do in the future mere days ago. Everything we’d heard was about how successful the change to Freedom had been. They had to have found out themselves either late last night or just this morning.

I feel a little better after writing about it. But yes; it upsets me. It just sounds like that corporate-style “you’re doing okay, but not well enough” sweep-out-the-door. And the further the video game industry goes, the more often that seems to happen.

1) I think you accidentally the whole “be.”

But yeah, I imagine so.

2) I guess I kinda go in and out of phases. I like SRPGs, but sometimes I get in a FPS mood, or an adventure mood, or like a buildy-type mood.

To date, I think I’ve played City of Ponies more than anything else. That’s sort of an Action RPG with SRPG-style character customization.

3) Heaven or Hell; Duel; Let’s rock?

4) They do not. That is purely a brony phenomenon.

5) Maybe if I was the only pony with a lyre cutie mark I’d be the best.

6) Possibly. Sweetie goes and spends time with her now and again.

7) Do song lyrics count?

1) Hmm… This is sounding a lot better than the initial adverts let on…

Wait a minute, is this a trap like that cruise I wasn’t invited to?

2) Seems to be about 1:30 to me.

3) Boscov’s threat gambit, I suppose.

4) She’s fine. Only reason I considered letting him go. Evidently she didn’t even know what was going on.

I don’t think she was ever in any danger.

5) No.

And FWI, I can be scary too.

6) That sounds cool, but I’ve been getting back into City of Ponies lately. Their Summer Blockbuster event is live and it’s pretty fun!

That aside, I still have some work I’d like to do for my one year tumblr anniversary on the eighth. Sort of stopped doing anything while Sweetie was… Well that’s over now.

You humans are hilarious!

1) Probably Snips. That colt is unpredictable. Although, I could see Scoots backing up her bark with some bite.

2) I don’t have any meat.

3) Sure. But not anymore.

4) I’ve never heard of that.

5) Well, I’m glad my interests can amuse you. I play on Ponytector. I guess for you that would be Protector. And actually, I recently made myself in the game!

Heartstrings! Street Justice/Ninjitsu Stalker! I’m… I’m not really a Ninja, I just wanted a secondary that had fear protection and I already have a character with Willpower.

Started off as a Villain so I can unlock Demonic/Eye of the Magus early off. Then I’ll switch to Hero. Maybe Vigilante.

But yeah, if anypony wants to play with me, my global is @Demon Shell! I don’t play all the time, though.

6) Because you said unpleased instead of displeased.

7) I’m afraid the name doesn’t ring a bell. Sorry.

8) You’re probably looking at this, and expecting us ponies to have the same setup. Keep in mind our entire legs are, at scale, about three times the circumference of a horse in your world. Our sole doesn’t take up that much of our hoof and the frog is much larger. That’s what you’d be gripping the door with.

Are you done questioning me about my own anatomy yet?

Interesting. You know, if you want to heal, buff, and debuff, Thermal Radiation can do all three (so can Radiation Emission, but it favors debuffs over buffing and healing). Thermal is basically Sonic Resonance and Empathy combined. There’s some differences from Cold Domination, though.

Looking back, this is a little bigger than I intended. Going to put the rest after a break.

I can certainly understand the desire to continue using Cold Domination. Novices or faux-vets from other MMOs might want Empathy or Pain Domination for heals, but real vets understand that City of Ponies is a game about buffs and debuffs. And Cold Dom not only has a lot of both, it’s the only support that can boost an ally’s maximum health. If you want to make a new character with Cold Domination I still recommend a Defender, or a Controller if you have that AT unlocked. Corruptor may be the AT in which Cold Domination was first introduced, but it’s the least optimal of the three available.

So… What were you looking to do on this new character? Support? Damage? Tank? Some kind of combination?

image

I don’t think that combination would make you the worst, but it’s not for beginners or even moderately experienced players. Long technical explanation ahead. Short version is that anything involving Energy Blast is very involving to play to the best of its ability, and Cold Domination is usually better off on a Defender, because you can’t skip it’s first ability on a Corruptor to use that ability slot on something else.

garyyo answered your question: When I play Minecraft, I use a JC Denton skin and… “im guessig you really really like that game”
I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I have no idea what you’re talking about.

1) Go ask somepony who gives a [omitted] about another porn tumblr.

2) Be more specific.

3) Well, being around others and interacting positively with them, which is the desired outcome, are two different things. But I’ll assume you meant without fulfilling the need to interact.

You feel drained and unfulfilled. Weak, depressed, upset, and just generally “down,” like you’ve failed. Fortunately, and I’m sure this’ll catch more than a few of you by surprise, extroverts don’t have to interact with other ponies, it’s just the most… uh… Cels I’m saying fulfilling a lot… fulfilling.

We can also interact with objects, you know toss stuff around, manipulate or handle things. I know puzzle toys like Rubik Cubes don’t usually hold my attention for too long, but things like Play-Doh are cool. Get like five bouncy balls and toss them all around at once. Log into City of Ponies, go into a mission and just… beat the crud out of everything!

But as I’ve mentioned before, I also like manipulating stats. Something like WoW I don’t approve of because you’re not really customizing anything, you’re adhering to a strict set of rules that result in essentially what’s required of you and nothing else. But in City of Ponies, things don’t work that way. Powersets can be combined and stats manipulated so far in certain directions that you can make builds that excel in something useful. Even if they’re not the most survivable or do the most damage, they can bring a piece to the table that’s just as good.

I… uh… think I sort of went off topic.

1) Tell the pony you’re in a relationship with what happened, then tell the guard on whoever tried to do you harm. Best you can do beyond that is defend yourself.

2) I assume Liora was taken as well. You could try Lyora, Lyeora, or Lieora. Or even Liera.

Hmm… My global handle in City of Ponies is Demon Shell. Got a character named Tia Locke. One of my characters in Skyrim is Freya.

Hey! You know Evil-Lyn from He-Mare? How about Lyra-Lyn?

Edit: And that picture is awful and you know it.

Hi Lyra! A little random, but thanks for recommending Deus Ex so much so many months ago. Finally got time to play it and it is so much fun! Shame I can't remember all the little tips and tricks you wrote all that time ago. Anyways, onto my actual question: When you've actually gotten time to play anything, if at all, what have you spending most of your time on?

I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

Not sure how many tips I offered. I do remember one glitch I encountered. When you get back to base after the first real mission, don’t go into any apartment buildings until you get a side mission to non-lethally capture a specific gang member. If you run into his guards before hand, one of them might glitch and get teleported to an area you can’t reach once you get the mission. It’s the only glitch I ever ran across in all three of my playthroughs, which is a shame because it happened so early off that it really lowers the precieved quality of the game.

Talk to people. Side missions aren’t specially marked and you don’t want to miss out on any. Plus you can hear some useful or immersive dialog.

If you’re having trouble with a boss fight, know that the first two can be won with only the equipment found in the battle room. If it comes down to it, try to avoid the boss and look around the room for weapons or environmental objects to use. There’s a few weapons lying around in the third boss room, but if you can win with just that, I have no idea how. Anything that can damage you, can and will damage a boss. The only exception is that you can’t do a melee attack against them, but they can against you.

You mean like, most time spend on a single game ever? If MMOs are included, City of Ponies by far. If we’re only talking about regular games, Disgaea. The game isn’t all that long, I just liked playing around and having fun with it.

I also enjoyed Disgaea 2, and would have played 3 and 4, but I don’t have a Playstable 3.

Edit: Huh, just realized you might have meant the first Deus Ex. Let me know if that’s what you meant.

City of Pony: Freedom Launched!

You can now play City of Ponies for free!

For anyone curious about me: I play on Ponytector, and my global is @Demon Shell!
