There was no reference to get! Some pony was simply confused, which in turn, confuses me. All one needs to do is to look at a photo of any of the Beatles to see they are not beetles. And beetles are very proud creatures, so they'd never resort to a disguise. Trust me, the two may share a similar-sounding name (and bass ability), but that is where the similarities end.
