S: Let me see here…

S: There is a large difference between being indebted by an individual and being indebted by a nation. There has never been a time in Equestria’s history where a favor has ever been deemed a fit exchange. But that’s politics. Largely unimportant.

S: Regrettably, being uninformed of laws and regulations does not emancipate you from them. I am, however, somewhat confident that I can resolve this issue due to your willing donation.

S: This was as I understood it, yes. But you do have to recognize that your collection is being compared to archives that, in their initial formation, were the result of Equestria’s founding. Many of the texts within are from before our nation was created, and many more from both before and after have been added since. There is, of course, still a chance that you may have one or more texts of practical value, but the vastest odds still weigh against you. Historic value is also possible, though less significant at this juncture.

S: …There are… threats that exist… They… Well, they can use your very powers to cause harm. Magic… does not deter them. Solitude is a critical weakness, and one they are willing to exploit. You are fortunate to have placed yourself in such situations in the past and remain yet untargeted. I would not rely upon that indefinitely.

S: There are reasons we do things the way we do them. Safety is paramount. To that end, you are free to join an excavation unit if you so desire. There is likely no reason you would be refused, considering your proven capabilities, so long as you can follow proper procedures. However, and this is why I suggested applying to a research team, due to the often sensitive and dangerous nature of material uncovered, excavators are prohibited from researching anything they unearth.

S: Archeologists may research their findings because of the disproportionate difference in scale. What they find is mostly historic and rarely of any danger to others. The things you seem interested in have much greater potential for disaster, which happens to be why they are outlawed in the first place.

S: Were I to make a recommendation, I would suggest applying to join a research team first, and then join an excavation unit if you are not admitted. I would also like to stress, once again, the importance of transporting those works to a safer location and am once again requesting your formal permission for a proper, designated team to begin doing so.
