2) I read the first one as a school assignment a while back. The pace was decent, but everything is just thrown in your face. The protagonist and the antagonist just happen to find the temple at the same time? Was he waiting for her to show up after she crashed landed? Book said she had been looking for the place for two months. Exactly how long did this guy wait for the chance occurrence of Daring to crash? Or if he caused it, why isn’t that mentioned?

Who is this guy, anyway? What kind of history does he and Daring have? There’s obviously something, but it’s never even touched upon. And why does this artifact suddenly carry the power to rule the world? And how is that possibility suddenly removed once Daring has it in her possession? I mean, story ends and she’s still in the jungle. He could have tracked her down before she made it to civilization.

It’s like watching a mindless action movie. I’m so confused by this grade-school plotline I can’t even enjoy it.
