There’s this awesome little frontier-sounding track that plays when you ride a horse in the region of Serendia in the game Black Desert Online. And that’s what this post was supposed to be about. Kinda lost focus and just started talking about the game. That’s all after the break now. The track is what I was trying to highlight.

A friend from Warframe invited me to this game called Black Desert Online. I wasn’t particularly on board at first because the combat looked like a lot of long animations you can’t break out of and that’s not good for an action game (to date I have only died twice, once was from lag, the other was from an aforementioned long animation).

However, while the combat still isn’t great, there’s a lot to the game that I like. There’s tons of characters and quests and a friendship/knowledge system where you learn things about the world and use that to become closer to NPCs and they’ll do more to help you.

There’s a bunch of missions that involve the use of crafting skills so you don’t grind skill growth so much as deliberately use them to complete objectives. I mean, I don’t even fight all that much in the game. I spend a lot of my time gathering and cooking and building stuff and gaining knowledge.

There’s trading between towns and you can ride horses. There’s even mounted combat, which is pretty uncommon in MMOs.

The track itself is completely out of place. It sounds sort of dusty/western but it plays in a lush valley between two mountains in a region that’s divided between farmlands and a huge swamp. But it still sounds awesome and I wanted to share.
