The defeated changelings lie scattered around me, a paltry effort to stop my advance. But with my attention no longer focused on defending myself, I noticed the clouds in the sky had gathered and darkened. Thunder followed shortly. They were concealing their movements. I chanced a glance at the few injured bodies around me. Too Few. Their attacks, spread too far apart. They were merely a distraction. They had succeeded.
My gaze returned to the sky in time to find something massive ripping its way through the clouds in a dive with me as its heading. A dragon? Working for changelings? Impossible as it was I searched for its heart with my magic. Would that I could claim and constrict its beating, I could lay low the beast in moments.
Three, four, five times I grasped. But try as I might the spell could not find its mark. As precise as the power must be to succeed, it had never failed me so many times. An illusion? In desperation I fired a beam, but it made no contact. The dragon’s body split in half to avoid it, then rejoined. The realization hit me like a cart full of apples. This was no dragon, nor was it a trick.
I dove to avoid the deadly swipe of their talons, the gust from their lunge whipped about me and I could not resist the need to shut my eyes. Dust filled the air and the taste of dirt flooded my senses. I coughed in fits as I stood once more and batted the air around me.
When I caught my breath and chanced use of my sight, I found the monstrosity silhouetted against the moon, turning in for another swoop against me. A dragon made of changelings… Just when you think you’ve seen all they have, they throw a curve-ball… A [omitted] Voltron dragon made of changelings…
Thanks! You should just do a “Top Games” list, where you just list the games you’ve played this year that you liked.
Two other games I almost put on my list were Steamworld Heist (Turn-based 2D Strategy Game) and The Metronomicon (Rhythm-based RPG), but I don’t have nearly as many hours in those games to justify putting them above the others in my top 5.
I’d do a top 5, but I don’t think I’ve played 5 different games this year. I remember playing the original Harvest Moon a lot. I like your list! And it wasn’t that long.
Lyra: I come to a party to socialize, eat, and have fun. Not to work.
Bon-Bon: Lyra, why do you always do this?
Lyra: Do what? Complain about something stupid?
Bon-Bon: Complain about something when you had fun. You were laughing, and smiling, and having fun. The decorating was fun! All those things you came for you did while helping somepony decorate that massive foyer she inherited. You got to help somepony and enjoy yourself at the same time! What more could anypony ask for on Hearth’s Warming Eve?
Lyra: … Nothing… Though technically, it is after midnight.
Raindrops and B (not pictured) carried us through much of the early game. Blues (not pictured) and Vinyl did a lot of heavy lifting in the mid-game. Blossomforth and I were invaluable in the endgame. And Octavia maintained a strong presence throughout and participated in the most operations.
But overall MVP (and team leader) was Bon-Bon! She had a rough start and a number of early injuries, but by the last mission her accuracy was unparalleled. Her crack shots were the entire reason we won!
Okay, so I made a post months back about making a Ponyville/Tumblr squad in XCom 2 whenever I got it (and I tried to reblog the post earlier but the image was illegible).
Well, here we are! This is just Ponyville folks and some randoms from the game, but if anyone wants to join the team let me know!
#179.5 - A family of Mareep, Flaaffy, and Ampharos is colloquially known as a rainbow flock, due to the range of colors this Pokemon goes through as it evolves. Maturing Mareep can easily be picked from its younger companions due to the gradual loss of their wool, as well as their change of skin color; however, the sphere at the end of its tail will not change color until it is near to completing its evolution. Mareep generate static electricity as their wool rubs together, and as they age and begin to store and more and more electricity, they will begin to develop patches with even downy wool won’t grown.
#180.5 - Flaaffy have rubbery, electricity-resistant skin that keeps them from being shocked by the electricity stored in their own wool. As Flaaffy get older, the mane-like arrangement of wool covering their upper body continues to recede, revealing an additional orb on its forehead that was actually present, but smaller, when they were Mareep. As they continue to lose wool from generating too much electricity, they will begin to generate and store electricity in their orbs instead; their tail orb in particular can shine extremely bright. At this point in their evolution, they no longer ever walk around on four legs.
#181 Mega - Ampharos are capable of Mega evolving once they have finished maturing, as long as their trainer possesses the Key Stone, Ampharosite, and a powerful bond with the Pokemon. As Ampharos Mega Evolve, their electrical power is amped up considerably, causing their dormant wool gene to be reactivated, and their heads and tails to grow luxurious white fur. To store the abundance of electricity, they sprout additional orbs on their tail, which will glow once they have been fully charged with electricity. Mega Ampharos actually generate so much raw energy that they gain the Dragon type upon Mega Evolving, often throwing off unaware opponents.
1) That’s alright. Seems like a trend. Or the opposite of a trend.
There is nothing about this that doesn’t sound fantastic. This is like a page out of some ancient history text book!
I want to read this novel. I want Bon-Bon and I to read this novel.
