Let’s just say there’s an optional area before you leave China that you’ll need the strength augment and Icarus to reach.
But if you get there, you’ll find something that will make things much easier.

Do you have augmented strength? If you do I think you can use it to get to anywhere you need height to reach by moving large objects.

Depends where you are in the game.
My first playthrough I got the Icarus first. Second time I got the Jump Enhancement. Icarus will generally be more useful, if you explore a lot. You’ll want both, though.
