Ask Lyra

Jan 18

asktetrabit-blog-blog asked: hello miss Lyra. Just want to say you're awesome, and hopefully make you a bit jelly. If things go well, me and my creator should be getting a copy of Adam Jensen's jacket as a late birthday gift when we head home.

That’s okay. I would prefer JC Denton’s coat. Adam’s collar is too high and the shoulder’s fit too formally. Plus, cliche as it may be, I just prefer JC and Paul as characters.

Adam has a more believable motivation for the everymare to be sure. But JC and Paul’s storyline hinges more on the notion that they’re just good ponies by nature trying to do the right thing.

That’s pretty radical though. If you can, I’d love to see a picture of it!

1) No thank you.

2) I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve only recently received one other message with return lines so I assume it has something to do with this.

3) Would you believe I’ve been asked before? No, I like these colors.

4) Going a little lowbrow, huh? Not sure I’d be down with fart jokes and laugh tracks.

2) Been there, saw the comic.

Hoppip asked me to make and embroider Lyra’s eyes and cutie mark for a plushie.  How could I say no to anything concerning Best Pony Lyra?

(( Hoppip went to the ends of the earth to get color matching fleece.  He mailed it to me in the US from the UK, and I mailed it back.  There was exactly zero margin for me screwing up because he had no extra.  This was BY FAR the hardest thing I have ever embroidered because I needed to be exact in so many directions or Lyra would come out looking Derp with eyes going in different directions. If I remember correctly, it took me a little over a month, working every day for a few hours to do them all. ))

Luna above…

I remember you talking about it, but…

1) I’ve heard about Super Robot Wars a number of times. One of these days I should look into it.

2) Why does everypony keep asking me things like this?

Yes!

carrotcake-replies-deactivated2 asked: What do you think of the idea letting yourself get mechanically augmented to have the abilities of the other pony species?

To be honest, when playing the first two Deus Ex games, I was all about nano-augmentation and got everything I could. But when I was playing Deus Ex 3, I was disappointed to find out that not turning on your augmentations had no bearing on the story (obviously there wouldn’t be any physical changes, but I would have expected a psychological aspect of refusing to use them).

I guess at the nano-technical level, it’s invisible so you don’t think about it. And I understand if it’s a replacement for an injury. But the idea of purposely removing a body part to replace it with an enhanced one? It just seems… unnatural to me.

Now, I would never choose death over it, or even to live handicapped if there’s an option. And when you throw in neurological augmentations to improve higher brain functionality? Things get really shaky. But I would like to think I would accept only what was necessary to retain what would have been lost.

Cliche, maybe, but…

1) I’m thinking, but I don’t think so.

I don’t really like the notion of belonging to somepony. Which I guess is hypocritical since I’ve called him ‘My Boscov.’

Oops.

2) Maybe for a day, but probably not forever.

Actually, if I had to choose to be something other than a unicorn, I’d pick earth pony. Their natural strength and endurance is pretty much what I do with my magic, but can’t maintain.

I can exceed what an earth pony is capable of several times over, but for incredibly brief periods of time. No real application outside of self-defense. Can’t get a job they’d be able to do.

Anonymous asked: Why can't I find any drug dealers in Ponyville?

You’d be hard pressed to find any in all of Equestria anymore. The entire illegal trade has been drying up for quite sometime now.

Edit: Unless you meant a legal drug store. There’s two of those, I think.

There’s two problems with this.

Firstly, I’m not a big fan of folk music. Sorry, I’m just not that into it.

Second, this is only sheet music for the lyrics. That button you can press on the page at the top of the sheet? That’s what the sheet music is for; that’s what it would sound like.

This is what it’s actually supposed to sound like.

Sorry, I couldn’t accept that even if I wanted to do the piece. This is just a vocalist’s sheet, so a singer will know what notes to hit when singing.

pinkie-pie-answers:

It’s taking place on Couple’s Day, silly, February 14th.  It’ll be taking place in the evening at about 5 PM and running until Sugar Cube Corner Closing time at 10 PM.

Couple’s Day…

You mean Hearts and Hooves Day? Oh. I figured this was some last minute invitation.

I’ll ask Boscov. That does take place on a Tuesday.

Anonymous asked: What's your favorite method of transportation?

The stationary kind. I call it non-transportation.

I’m just playin’. I’m not that lazy.

Probably boothed train, because it’s like being in a little house while you travel.

Uh, this isn’t really fan mail, so I guess it doesn’t need the tag.

What day is this taking place? I’ll have to move stuff around and I won’t know if Boscov will be able to attend until I get a date and time and talk it over.

EST, if you can manage it.

Anonymous asked: Do you appreciate Bon-Bon enough?

I believe I’ve addressed this before.

1) Not to be a downer, but some ponies just aren’t made to be cool. Being cool usually requires you to have dealt with some heavy stuff in the past. It gives you the insight to know what rules are meant to be bent and a certain carefree attitude that makes your movements more fluent and visually impressive.

Not that I consider myself cool, mind you. I’m a straight arrow.

2) Uh… What?

Good luck with your business, I guess.

No, not yet. He took after our Papa and went into economics, so he goes on many business trips. Harry always call these business trips vacations, as he considers what he does enjoyable and opposite of a boring business trip.

Huh. Must be nice.
